Comments from the Evaluations

The 2009 Quilt Show was a success.

This was a fantastic Quilt Show. I appreciate all the work you all did…..The show was great.  It was nice to have the homemaker groups run the food stand, they did a nice job. I’m still hearing comments in the community--they are all positive. You girls should be proud of the job you did…..Enjoyed and my Mother also did!…..We always have the best organized, interesting show. Hard and dedicated workers…..I thought the Whimsical Foundations Auction was a highlight of the show…..The cancer fund drive was great…..Enjoyed the show very  much…..Show was excellent, well presented…..Great quilt show!…..Remember you’ll never please everyone and there will always be things to change and improve…..VERY DISAPPOINTED IN VENDORS, NEED TO SOLICIT VENDORS…..I thought everyone did a great job and should be commended for all their efforts…..The show was great and a lot of fun…..Great job to all that worked such long hours, visitors had nothing but praise…..Great job!!!…..I really enjoyed the quilt show and think everything went very efficiently…..Tables at entrance need to be closer together. People were walking through not realizing there was a charge for entrance…..Fabulous show--well organized--very successful…..Every area was a huge success…..I’d like to see some demos by quilters. Hand quilting -- applique -- etc…..

I was given ample opportunity to participate and volunteer to work.

I had fun working the show…..Generally enjoyed the show and working there…..

Registration of entries was well organized.

            VICKI DID A GREAT JOB…..

Categories could have better reflected techniques, e.g. hand-quilting.

I want a hand-quilted category…..We had a separate category for HAND Embroidery But NO Separate one for Hand Quilting or Piecing. Something’s WRONG! I DON’T CARE How they Do it in PADUCA KY Show. We pay for that judge. Hand work is the Original Tradition of Quilting…..There should be a category for youngsters under 18.….Think they were very good. Might use a little tweaking…..We should have a hand quilted category…..

Turn-in of quilts was well organized.

Was not involved or there to see, but heard very good things…..

The judge was knowledgeable and consistent.

Judge was not as proficient in ART quilt judging…..Judge was excellent!…..appreciate the comments from the judge…..She was tough but fair. We could use hereagain…..Was not involved or there to see, but heard good things…..I think you should have more than one judge…..

The quilts were displayed effectively.

It would have been nice to have a story that accompanied each quilt. I’ve seen this in previous shows and it’s nice to read the story that accompanies the quilt…..I would like to see the quilts hung in categories…..As a floor walker and chair of hospitality, I heard comments people missing the stories that had accompanied quilts in the past…..One spectator suggested displaying quilts from each category together (although I know that’s probably not possible)…..

Turn-back of quilts was well organized.

The turn back was good in the Horticulture Room using the built-in benches for stacking up. My thoughts were the men loading the trailers had to walk thru the middle of busy turn back…..Margie did great!…..

The Country Store served my needs.

The building and facilities were good.

Parking needs improvement…..Need to approach Fairground Association about doing something about parking--Awful!!…..Good lighting…..The fairgrounds educational building is better than it used to be but still not quite good enough for us!…..Hopefully in 2 years we can afford to have the show in the new Veda Sheid Community Building. Would give us more room…..Parking could have been better…..

Since we are close to outgrowing space at the present location, we should limit entries in some way.

Is there a larger space? If not--this is a possibility…..If space is a concern, we could tighten up the aisles a bit without losing room to navigate maybe?…..If we are outgrowing space we should find a facility for the show that will accommodate us rather than limit the size of the show…..YES!…..re: limit entries -- perhaps you might consider limiting the # of entries per person. I would not be in favor of limiting the entries to eliminate some people from entering…..I certainly think we should look for a location with more space before we limit the number of quilts…..The facilities are the best available but I’m hoping we can get something bigger…..Entries should never be limited! We might want to look into having future shows at ASU…..Maybe 2 in the larger categories. We are so used to this facility---that moving to a new place will have a big learning curve. So there is comfort in staying where we were…..May have to…..
